Wheel chock – well secured against movement

Wheel chocks secure the trailer from accidentally rolling away. For trailers exceeding 750 kg permissible total weight, two wheel chocks must be attached to the trailer by easily accessible brackets (§ 41 Road Traffic Licensing Regulations, Germany).

Germany

• According to § 41 of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations StVZO, trailers of more than 750 kg permitted total weight and motor vehicles of more than 4000 kg permitted total weight require two wheel chocks. The wheel chocks must be safe to handle and be adequately effective. They must be attached in or on the vehicle using holders so they are easily accessible, and the holders must prevent them becoming lost or rattling. The effectiveness of the wheel chocks according to § 41 StVZO must be checked by the vehicle manufacturer (18% uphill and downhill at kerb weight and permitted gross weight).

• DIN 76051 is generally recognised in all countries of Europe. However, regulations of specific countries must be complied with.
