Reise + Camping travel fair: Flexibility on the hook

Industry experts and Harry Wijnvoord present accessories for two-wheel and four-wheel transport with leisure vehicles

Holidaying with your leisure vehicle – and bicycle, scooter, motorbike and not infrequently also a small car. Because mobility and flexibility are in demand at beautiful pitches. The interest in practical accessories for the safe transport of two-wheeled vehicles or even small cars with leisure vehicles is greater than ever and finally the products available are increasing and possibilities constantly growing. A few industry experts have joined forces to offer an overview. At North Rhine-Westphalia's biggest travel fair, the Essen-based Reise + Camping fair (24 to 28 February), they present custom solutions and practical accessories based around the safe transport of heavier two-wheel and four-wheel loads. The spectrum ranges from light bicycle carriers with 80 kg load capacity through to car trailers with nearly 1.5 tons capacity. The team of experts includes vehicle technology specialists from AL-KO, accessory experts from SAWIKO, Ostmann Fahrzeugbau, specialised in the manufacture of full air suspension, lowerable trailers, STEMA, one of the major manufacturers for retractable, lowerable car trailers, and Harry Wijnvoord. Born in the Netherlands, he became famous in the 90s as host of the TV game show "The Price is Right", is a passionate leisure vehicle enthusiast and knows the issues of leisure vehicles from personal experience, and always tows his small car on a compact trailer wherever he travels. The entertainer will be involved at the weekend in Hall 2, Stand D9.

The accessories market for rear and load carriers or trailers provides a great choice for leisure vehicle enthusiasts. Anyone having to make the right choice for their vehicle(s) and needs may find it quite demanding at first, given the wide range of products. The panel of experts in the special area in exhibition hall 2 offers an overview of the different options and expert advice on individual issues. The experts are also on hand with advice and assistance for questions on retrofitting a towbar and all necessary framework reinforcements. Because there is a suitable solution for almost every leisure vehicle for towing trailers or transporting bulky objects such as bicycles and scooters using a carrier device.

Speaking of trailers: Packed and ready to go, the permitted total weight of a leisure vehicle is often quickly reached. So it makes sense to rearrange weight onto a trailer. This also applies when several or larger vehicles are to be transported. With a sophisticated modular system it is possible to accommodate bicycles, electric bikes, motorcycles, the spare wheel, waste tanks and other storage solutions. By means of optional conversion kits such as various storage boxes, extendable light brackets, sheeting systems or even side wall extensions, custom solutions can be found for virtually any everyday situation. These compact special trailers even have space for small electric vehicles or small cars. They are available in braked and unbraked versions and often have a 100 km/h permit.

What's more, fun and entertainment will be provided by Harry Wijnvoord, who will be hosting the wheel of fortune in Hall 2 on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February.

The former TV host Harry Wijnvoord is a passionate leisure vehicle enthusiast and knows the issues of leisure vehicles from personal experience, and always tows his small car on a compact trailer wherever he travels. This vehicle and trailer will also be present in Essen. Furthermore, the entertainer will be involved at the weekend in the special area.

The motto for the special area in hall 2, stand D19 is "Flexibility on the hook". It's clear that the towing hitch plays a central role here.
