New anti-theft protection secures trailer whether stationary or driving

AL-KO Safety developed for AK 161 and AK 270 coupling heads – Tested designs meet the highest safety requirements in Europe

AL-KO Vehicle Technology is expanding its safety product range. AL-KO SAFETY has now been developed especially for the AK 161 and AK 270 coupling heads – the first anti-theft protection available on the market for these two couplings, which meets the high country-specific insurance requirements in England, Sweden and the Netherlands. AL-KO SAFETY will be available from summer onwards and will secure the trailer against rapid access both when stationary and when driving.

There is no one hundred percent protection against the theft of a trailer. But there are good security options that act as a deterrent to opportunist vehicle thieves. Locks that can only be broken with a lot of time and special tools increase the probability that thieves will abandon their plans. The AL-KO Safety anti-theft protection, which weighs 2.5 kilograms and meets the highest international safety requirements, also depends on this. AL-KO Vehicle Technology offers the new anti-theft protection in four different variants, depending on the premium discount conditions of the insurance companies in the European countries:

  • with SCM testing in the Netherlands (with drilling and pulling protection)
  • with Sold-Secure testing in Great Britain (with drilling and pulling protection)
  • with SBSC testing in Sweden (special lock with wear plates)
  • without testing for the rest of the European Union (standard lock)

AL-KO Safety protects the trailer when driving and also protects it against rapid access during stationary operation. The Safety Ball included in the scope of delivery is used for this purpose. The hard plastic safety catch drops into the coupling heads when uncoupled and prevents the spherical head engaging, thus also preventing unauthorised coupling.

Further details will be available from 8th to 14th April, 2019 at the AL-KO Vehicle Technology stand at bauma 2019 in Munich (Hall B4, Stand 436).
