DexKo Global continues strategic concentration on core business

Sale of Bowden Cable Division on 31 December 2016 to General Aerospace

On 20 December 2016, DexKo Global, through its AL-KO Vehicle Technology business, sold the Bowden Cable Division of AL-KO Vehicle Technology based in Zellberg im Zillertal and the plant in Sura Mica (Romania) to General Aerospace GmbH based in Eschbach in Baden-Württemberg (Germany), a leading supplier of high tech aerospace components, in full and with an effective date of 1 January 2017. This was another step for DexKo Global, a global leader in highly engineered trailer running gear and chassis assemblies and related components, to continue its strategic focus on its core business.

The transaction also creates a new strong partnership since there will be a very close supply relationship between AL-KO Vehicle Technology and General Aerospace GmbH, which as from 1 January 2017 will trade under the name GA Actuation Systems GmbH. AL-KO Vehicle Technology will continue to benefit from the quality, time-tested expertise and high quality products from Zellberg. This transition will be facilitated by General Aerospace’s plan to retain the workforce of 150 highly trained employees at both plants.

Harald Hiller, President and CEO of AL-KO Vehicle Technology: "It was very important for us to find a buyer interested in continuing the strategic development of the sites and long term collaboration. We have found the ideal partner for this in the form of General Aerospace."

Samuele Piatti, Managing Director of General Aerospace GmbH, underlines the strategic character of the transaction: "The Bowden Cable Division of AL-KO Vehicle Technology is ideal for our objectives since it has a high level of industrialization and global renown. This acquisition enables us to diversify our product portfolio and use a wide range of synergies in the automotive sector."
